Verona

We decided to take a day trip to Verona from Venice, on the second day we were there as it was supposed to be the hottest day. We made our way down to the train station and bought our tickets which were 30 euros roughly for four of us one way and it would take 1hr 30 mins. Whilst waiting for the train to leave we had a look around the station and found a little shop that sold pizza slices, I had a margarita piece as I’m vegetarian and my brother had pepperoni and we both said that it was one of the best pizzas that we had there. I don’t know why we don’t sell pizza slices in England, if anyone knows of any places that do I would be very grateful to find out! When we got to Verona we wandered to the square where the Amphitheatre is and had a little explore around there, I was very happy to see a bit of grass and a fountain as there wasn’t much open space in Venice. We then found a little castle which was very picturesque and probably more famous than we realised. We also went in the amphitheatre and visited Juliet’s balcony which was so packed you could barely move but still lovely to see. Overall it was a great day full of walking and eating pizza and I would have loved to have been there longer.

  1. Ahh sounds lovely! Have you watched the movie ‘Letters to Juliet’? It’s based partly in Verona & shows the region is great light. Been on my list for a while… 🙂
